Brief Overview of Our Organization

Our nonprofit was founded to provide emotional support for the at-risk youth of the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) in Georgia.

We are dedicated to equipping young adults with critical thinking skills that will allow them to rethink their responses to high-stress triggers. Our team guides them as they forge a path toward a bright future.

Our Mission

Our mission is to remove barriers to professional mental health counseling and make it available to all by offering individual therapy and group sessions to youth who are at-risk, to include their support systems, children with special needs, and emerging adults overcoming stressors in their lives, such as poverty, discrimination, domestic violence, abuse, addictions, unstable homes, and academic difficulties.

Our Vision

We empower the next generation to channel new paths for their lives by equipping them with the tools they need to heal and build resilience through professional mental health counseling. We work with families, local school districts, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and other community organizations to create long-term impact for youth, families, and our community.

Focused on Young Adults’ Mental Health

Youth with oppositional defiance disorder (ODD), attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), often come from dysfunctional homes, lack respect for authority, and have anger issues. These disorders are also associated with several other mental health conditions, including substance abuse.

These disorders may become a clinical issue without proper intervention. At Channeled Paths, we help young adults suffering from these conditions develop better and healthier behaviors.

Our Counseling Sessions

We accept patients in the CSRA and the surrounding counties in GA and SC and offer free individual and group counseling sessions to uninsured families of children aged 18 years old and younger.

We assess the program’s effectiveness by examining our client’s personal and academic improvement based on reports made by their parents.

Our Clients

Our licensed therapists meet with youth referred to our program through a number of community groups, partners, and organizations to include the Department of Juvenile Justice, our school systems, local mentoring organizations, and more.

Program Testimonial

“My time at Channeled Path as an intern has helped me to completely shift my perspective of at-risk youth and the entire counseling process. For instance, I was able to connect with one of my clients in a way that was beyond inspirational for me!

My client spent the first few sessions very defiant and unwilling to open up to anyone, let alone me. However, I refused to give up on him as I saw the potential he held inside. At the time, my client was diagnosed with a defiant conduct disorder and was on the brink of possibly facing time In Juvenile hall If he did not change his behavior.

After a brief session of critical thinking and speaking with him about the path he was on, he decided to open up and speak about his life experiences. The connection and bond between myself and this client grew inexplicably into a healthy relationship in which the client was able to commit to his entire treatment planning.

As a result, he was able to complete all requirements of our strategic goals that he set for himself and through a commitment to the program. In addition, the client claimed all responsibility and accountability for his actions towards others, which he learned had developed from his prior negative core beliefs.

By the end of his treatment, the client went from failing in alternative school to graduating on the A/8 honor roll. He was allowed to attend public school and regain the trust of his family, and he no longer desires to commit acts of negative actions toward others. The client is now on the path, of positive progress and continual growth.

I wholeheartedly feel that without the free counseling, I was able to provide through Channeled Path's Program, this client would be in the Juvenile Justice system or even worse.

I feel proud that I was able to be given the opportunity to work with this client and be part of his positive life change.”
