Our Founders
Cheryl Carswell & Phillip Stockard
Cheryl Carswell and Phillip Stockard, founders, directors, and partners, established Channeled Paths on May 13, 2013, with a vision to create accessible, compassionate mental health services for youth and families in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). What began as Georgia Family Crisis Solutions evolved into the fully independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit Channeled Paths, Inc., officially launched in October 2022 and actively serving the community since January 2023.
Together, they are devoted to empowering individuals to overcome emotional and behavioral challenges, build resilience, and discover renewed paths toward well-being.

Cheryl Carswell, LPC, MAC, CFC, CCH, EDIT, CPCS
Cheryl Carswell is CEO of Channeled Paths, Inc. and brings over 20 years of clinical counseling and academic experience to her leadership at Channeled Paths. She holds a Master’s of Science degree in Foundations of Education degree in Psychology and Counseling from Troy State University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Georgia. She served as an adjunct professor for Troy State University and Full time professor of Psychology for Augusta Community College-GMC Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Founder
Phillip Stockard
Phillip Stockard holds dual Master’s Degrees in Psychology and counseling from Eastern Michigan University and Troy University. He was a site director and Professor of Psychology for Troy University.
He is a retired teacher and principal of the Jackson alternative public school program. He was the founder and co-commissioner of the Michigan Alternative Athletic Association.
Phillip was also the founder and director of Jackson Area Youth Options, a grant-funded After School At-Risk Youth Program. He is a partner, a Glasser therapist, and a founder and assistant director of Georgia Family Crisis Solutions, Inc.
He is certified as a Civil and Domestic Relations Mediator for the State of Georgia. He serves as a Guardian ad Litem for the State of Georgia.

Our Team

Kimberly Bridi
MS, LPC
Kimberly attended Troy University where she obtained a Master of Science of Counseling Psychology. Kimberly Bridi is a licensed professional counselor with 15+ years of experience specializing in trauma, chronic pain, and treatment-resistant conditions. She is trained in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Processing Therapy, yoga therapy, Thai Yoga Therapy, and other contemplative and evidence-based modalities. Her diverse career spans private practice, hospitals, forensic settings, the Department of Defense, and community agencies, as well as a treatment court clinician and program developer, building trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care for justice-involved clients. The population she serves is teens (15+) and adults. She is passionate about bridging neuroscience, body-based practices, and psychotherapy.

Dr. Teresa A. Bates
is an Independent Christian Counselor. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Christian Counseling with a specialization in Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counseling and a Doctorate in Divinity. Dr. Bates has extensive training and certifications in Group Therapy, Substance Abuse, Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Shoplifting Prevention, Divorce Education, Positive Parenting, and Co-Parenting Education. She also has past certifications in Sexual and Addiction Therapy. In 2020, Dr. Bates earned a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Psychology with a focus on Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a nationally and state-licensed psychotherapist with advanced certifications for ADHD and Trauma. Currently, she serves as a cognitive behavioral psychotherapist at Channeled Paths, dedicated to helping individuals achieve self-awareness, balance, and positive life pathways.

Dr. Maxwell Kennedy
Therapist
Dr. Kennedy is a graduate of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and completed clinical training at Georgia Regional Hospital in Augusta and the counseling center at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta. He has served on the board of directors for the Georgia Association for Marriage and Family Therapy for the past 20+ years. Dr. Kennedy provides a full range of counseling services for children, adolescents and adults.

Jana LeCroy
LPC
Janna loves helping people become the best version of themselves that they can be. She has a master's in clinical counseling from Brenau University and has been practicing for over 6 years. She is an LPC in Georgia who recently moved to Augusta from Hartwell, GA. She has treated all sorts of mental health concerns, but has a focus on trauma informed care, and working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse. She works with ages 6 and up as well as couples. You can regularly find her curled up with a cup of chai before and after sessions. When not in the office She loves to read and cross stitch.
