Our Founders
Cheryl Carswell & Phillip Stockard
Cheryl Carswell and Phillip Stockard, founders, directors, and partners, established Channeled Paths on May 13, 2013, with a vision to create accessible, compassionate mental health services for youth and families in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). What began as Georgia Family Crisis Solutions evolved into the fully independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit Channeled Paths, Inc., officially launched in October 2022 and actively serving the community since January 2023.
Together, they are devoted to empowering individuals to overcome emotional and behavioral challenges, build resilience, and discover renewed paths toward well-being.

Cheryl Carswell, LPC, MAC, CFC, CCH, EDIT, CPCS
Cheryl Carswell is CEO of Channeled Paths, Inc. and brings over 20 years of clinical counseling and academic experience to her leadership at Channeled Paths. She holds a Master’s of Science degree in Foundations of Education degree in Psychology and Counseling from Troy State University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Georgia. She served as an adjunct professor for Troy State University and Full time professor of Psychology for Augusta Community College-GMC Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Founder
Phillip Stockard
Phillip Stockard holds dual Master’s Degrees in Psychology and counseling from Eastern Michigan University and Troy University. He was a site director and Professor of Psychology for Troy University.
He is a retired teacher and principal of the Jackson alternative public school program. He was the founder and co-commissioner of the Michigan Alternative Athletic Association.
Phillip was also the founder and director of Jackson Area Youth Options, a grant-funded After School At-Risk Youth Program. He is a partner, a Glasser therapist, and a founder and assistant director of Georgia Family Crisis Solutions, Inc.
He is certified as a Civil and Domestic Relations Mediator for the State of Georgia. He serves as a Guardian ad Litem for the State of Georgia.

Our Team

Angela Kersey
MS, LPC, NCC, SOTP, CMIP
Angela attended Kaplan University and Walden University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Child Development and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Angela is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor, who practices in Georgia. She has a certificate as a Sex Offender Treatment Provider and a certification as a Mindfulness Informed Professional. The population she serves includes adolescents (15+), adults, and seniors. Angela Kersey has 5 years of clinical and case management experience in the mental health field. She has been worked in private practice during her internship and an Independent Contractor during her supervision and as an Independent Contractor with a non-profit practice. Angela is committed to assisting others in finding ways to overcome life's challenges, become self-reliant, and build confidence to achieve their goals.

Juan D. Mobley
MBA
I am a experienced program leader with a strong background in nonprofit management, mental health services, and community development. At Channeled Paths Counseling Center, I oversee programs that connect underserved youth with life-changing mental health support. With over 20 years of experience across public and private sectors, I am passionate about building partnerships, empowering communities, and breaking down barriers to care. I hold an MBA from Troy University and a BS in Business Administration from South Carolina State University.

Kimberly Bridi
MS, LPC
Kimberly attended Troy University where she obtained a Master of Science of Counseling Psychology. Kimberly Bridi is a licensed professional counselor with 15+ years of experience specializing in trauma, chronic pain, and treatment-resistant conditions. She is trained in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Processing Therapy, yoga therapy, Thai Yoga Therapy, and other contemplative and evidence-based modalities. Her diverse career spans private practice, hospitals, forensic settings, the Department of Defense, and community agencies, as well as a treatment court clinician and program developer, building trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care for justice-involved clients. The population she serves is teens (15+) and adults. She is passionate about bridging neuroscience, body-based practices, and psychotherapy.

Leela Gadson
National Certified Counselor
Leela Gadson is a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University. Leela has a special passion for working with children ages 4 and up, meeting them where they are developmentally and emotionally. She specializes in creating custom therapeutic storybooks that help young clients process their experiences in a safe, age-appropriate, and engaging way. These personalized narratives support emotional healing while fostering connection, safety, and self-expression. Leela is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals and families, supporting them on their journey toward healing and growth.

Savannah Makowski
LMSW
Savannah attended Kennesaw State University where she obtained a Master of Social Work degree. Savannah is a Licensed Master Social Worker and practice in Georgia. She has a Forensic Social Work Certificate and Hatch Compliant for Assessments, Diagnosing and Care Planning in SUD and MH. The population she serves is preteen (10+), teen, adults, and elderly (65+). She has 3+ years of clinical and case management experience in the mental health field. She is a firm believer that the most difficult part of wanting to work towards being the best version of you is getting in the door and hopes to be a steppingstone along the way for her clients.

Dr. Teresa A. Bates
is an Independent Christian Counselor. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Christian Counseling with a specialization in Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counseling and a Doctorate in Divinity. Dr. Bates has extensive training and certifications in Group Therapy, Substance Abuse, Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Shoplifting Prevention, Divorce Education, Positive Parenting, and Co-Parenting Education. She also has past certifications in Sexual and Addiction Therapy. In 2020, Dr. Bates earned a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Psychology with a focus on Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a nationally and state-licensed psychotherapist with advanced certifications for ADHD and Trauma. Currently, she serves as a cognitive behavioral psychotherapist at Channeled Paths, dedicated to helping individuals achieve self-awareness, balance, and positive life pathways.

Kimberly Chandler
Office Coordinator
Kimberly Chandler is the Office Coordinator at Channeled Paths, Inc. She is a 2001 graduate of Augusta State University and has twenty years of medical office experience. As the first point of contact for our clients, she provides knowledge and reassurance. She believes efficiency and compassion are essential for providing clients with the best possible experience.
